Asylum Representation on Long Island Protecting Your Right to Safety and Freedom

At New York Immigration Center, we provide compassionate representation to individuals fleeing persecution in their home countries. If you are afraid to return to your country due to violence, political beliefs, religion, gender, or other protected grounds, you may be eligible to apply for asylum in the United States.

Immediate Relative Visas: These visas are available for close family members, such as spouses, parents, and unmarried children under 21. There are no annual limits on these visas.

Family Preference Visas: These are for more distant relatives, including siblings and married children, and are subject to annual limits.

Our team ensures that your application meets all legal requirements, minimizing delays and maximizing success.

Who Qualifies for Asylum?

You may apply for asylum if you have been persecuted or have a well-founded fear of persecution in your home country because of:

  • Your race or ethnicity

  • Religion

  • Nationality

  • Political opinion

  • Membership in a particular social group (including gender-based or LGBTQ+ claims)

We understand how difficult it is to recount traumatic experiences. Our legal team will guide you through the process with sensitivity, confidentiality, and care.

The Asylum Process

Whether you are filing an affirmative asylum application with USCIS or defending yourself in immigration court, our experienced attorneys will:

  • Help you prepare a strong personal statement

  • Gather supporting evidence, including country condition reports

  • Prepare you for interviews or hearings

  • Represent you in front of asylum officers or immigration judges

At New York Immigration Center, we also assist individuals applying for withholding of removal and protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT).

  • For countries not part of the Hague Convention, parents must follow the orphan adoption process.
  • USCIS requires the completion of forms I-600A and I-600.
  • This process involves different documentation and approval procedures based on the child’s country of origin.
  • U.S. green card holders adopting a child from their native country may need to complete an I-130 Family-Based Petition.
  • The adoptive parent must have resided in the child’s country for at least two years.

Our legal team ensures that families understand the adoption process, meet all eligibility requirements, and submit the necessary documentation for international adoption in New York City.
